Christmas arrived at Sesame Place last weekend, and is open select dates between now and December 31st. Their Very Furry Christmas event turns the theme park into a winter wonderland, with characters dressed for winter, pictures with Santa, christmas lights that rival some of the best displays I’ve ever seen, winter parades, snow machines, and all of their regular dry-land rides.
The staff at Sesame Place invited my family to the park for opening day to check out all of the festivities they have planned for this season. We had a great time munching on gingerbread cookies with the characters before taking a toddler-friendly train ride on the Furry Express through the Twiddlebug’s Gingerbread Cookie Factory. After the ride, we headed over to Santa’s Furry Workshop to give Santa our Christmas lists. And then we hit the Christmas parade before getting some dinner at Elmo’s Eatery.
We’ve had a lot of firsts over the years at Sesame Place…first ride, first time Buddy sat with Santa without crying, first trick-or-treating, first parade, and last weekend – first rock concert. Yes, you heard me right…on our most recent trip to Sesame Place, we went to see the Imagination Movers in concert!
We ALL loved it. Sesame Place’s Monster Rock Theater was the perfect place to see a concert with kids, as every seat had an excellent view. Little Guy danced the entire show, and I’ll admit I was up and dancing, too. The Movers were so much fun (their Southern-style music is presented in an upbeat concert that blends adult favorites with original songs from the band themselves), and the acoustics were great. I will definitely be on the look out for other concerts at Sesame Place.
If you will be in the Philadelphia area this holiday season, consider visiting Sesame Place’s Very Furry Christmas. They have a great line up of activities and fun events planned, including: Nina, Star, and the Pajanimals; Caillou; and New Year’s Eve fireworks. I’d love to hear about the family memories you create at Sesame Place this winter – please leave a comment sharing your story!
