Disclosure: I have received Netflix streaming and a streaming device as part of my membership on the Netflix Stream Team. All opinions expressed within this post are my own. #streamteam
I entered the new year with a strong desire to create. My winter break away from the classroom gave me a chance to rejuvenate and gave me some “me time” to let my imagination go wild. Now that I am back at school, I am committed to prioritizing my creative side, as it is a major way for me to manage stress! I also find that the kids really enjoy spending time in the craft room and I would like to encourage this more as a way for us to spend quality time together.
This year I hope to share with you lots of creative inspiration here on the blog.
Parties
Our first two parties of the year are in the planning stages, and the boys have decided on a Star Wars LEGO party and a Painting (art) party. I can’t wait to show you all of the goodies we are coming up with for these events – it has been a lot of fun planning!
Home Decor
We have done a lot of the big renovations on our home, so now it is the time to tackle some of the little things. There are certain things in the house that drive me nuts that my husband doesn’t really care about. Since I have no interest in investing any money at the time to fix these eyesores, I have determined (after quite a bit of research) that I am fully capable of fixing these things on my own.
The Fireplace
It is ugly. It is brick. It is in a room that I have no idea what to do with. There is heat escaping from the chimney and I can see money just flying out of my house in the form of heated air.
I don’t want to paint the brick, so I plan to build a box OVER the fireplace to refinish it to make it better fit the style of our home. Let’s take a look at what my house looks like on a regular old day. Bloggers’ houses aren’t always picture perfect, no matter what we would like you to believe.
The Media Console
My mom generously gave me her old stand when they replaced theirs 10 or so years ago. However, it is the wrong size for our TV and the door must be open if we are watching TV. Well an open glass door and a toddler are NOT the best mix. I thought about popping in some chicken wire and calling it a day, but that still does not fix the size and storage issues.
I have looked to buy one but they are way too much money. So, I’d like to make one…maybe like this beauty from Ana White!
2016 Word of the Year: Create
While I create, I love to stream Netflix in my craft room. Right now I am binging majorly on Jane the Virgin. Have you watched yet? It is purposefully cheesy, a parody of a telenovela show. The characters are deep, the storyline is outlandish, and I just love it! If you love shows like The Bachelor and Real Housewives, this show is definitely for you.
What is your word of the year? Where will your word take you this year?
I think that might be my word of the year too, but most of mine is wedding related. lol I love the Ana White plans. Gabe’s now playhouse that’s under construction used an Ana White base.
