As a college professor my schedule can vary week to week with night classes, meetings, and research commitments sometimes making it difficult for us to sit down as a family for dinner. When I come in from a long day of teaching, the last thing I want to do is cook. So, at least one night a week we pop in a frozen pizza, and my husband and I sit down and chat over a late dinner.
Right before we were hit by Hurricane Sandy, a generous package arrived from Annie’s Homegrown including items like oven mitts, pizza cutters, organic orchard fruit bites, a pizza coupon, and a winter hat. The hat was a lifesaver during Hurricane Sandy, as the storm hit before I unpacked our winter clothes. So, as we huddled for four days without heat or electric, the boys rocked out the Annie’s hat.
Now that we finally have electricity, we were able to try one of Annie’s new rising crust pizzas! We picked up an Annie’s Barbecue Recipe Chicken Pizza at our local Giant supermarket. We liked that it was made with organic flour, onions, and BBQ sauce. The 11.5 inch pizza was plenty big for the four of us.
Overall impressions: It was good! So good that on the next shopping trip, my husband picked up another one to eat this week. We both thought the BBQ chicken pizza was a refreshing alternative to our typical tomato and cheese pizza! As you can see from the pictures below, the kids agreed.
These pizzas can be found at Target, Safeway, Kroger and other retailers, for a suggested retail price of $7.99. Would you like to try an Annie’s Rising Crust Pizza?
