If you live in a house with at least one school-aged child, you likely have 1 (or 100) building sets around the house.  The prized pieces in any set in our house are always the minifigures, and as the boys expand their collection, we realized that they needed a place to store the figures and their accessories.

Lego box

Inspired by the Rainbow Loom craze, we bought an Art Bin with dividers and sorted out our figures, hats, accessories, animals, and transportation into the various sections.  My 4.5 year old is an organizer by nature and he loves that this storage container gives order to his collection.  The box fits both his LEGO and Megabloks minifigures.  Using my Silhouette CAMEO, I cut a design onto Oracal 651 vinyl and adhered it to the outside to personalize his box.

mini storage

And this is our easy peasy personalized minifigure storage.  How do you store mini figures in your house?

Awesome! I picked up some smaller boxes last year at Target, but I think they’re too small. Your size is much better, plus it’s not hard to find a way to use a coupon to buy the box for less at Michael’s or JoAnn Fabrics.

My boys are 15 and 13, and they still play with Legos. This is such a brilliant way to store them. I am definitely going to get some the next time I am out. Thanks so much for the ideas!

That’s genius! I think all of our minifigures are in action at all times. On rockets, driving trucks, letting people in and out of the toll booth…. It’s a pretty adventurous world on the Lego table!

Yes, we did an AC Moore 40% off coupon so the big box was about $6!

When they outgrow them, they can sell them on EBay! Minifigures go for a lot…a container is like “protecting their investment.”

In two years, you’ll be drowning in small pieces that will drive you nuts!!!

The boys won’t “leave” their guys in action – despite our encouragement!

So good for so many purposes!! I always find new uses for them.
