Thanksgiving Day is almost here. For us that means food, family and LOTS of football. Fall fashion can be tricky for boys in the Northeast, because my boys will do just about anything to avoid a jacket until it is so cold that they fear frostbite. Helping my boys find comfortable, stylish clothes to keep them warm is a constant struggle we have in our house.
When Kids Headquarters sent over some University of Maryland Under Armour gear for the boys, everyone was excited. The boys love showing their Maryland Pride (GO TERPS!) and I was thrilled the boys had a few new items for layering during early mornings at the bus stop.
This warm up jacket is a perfect lightweight layer. The boys love it because they say it feels like their own “skin”.
I love that even the baby gets to dress like the big boys (college kids). How cute are these warm up pants?
This sweatshirt is my favorite item in the boys’ closet right now. The “heathered” red is really sophisticated and I love the logo on the back. I want a women’s version of this jacket with that red fabric – I already have a few favorites on my holiday wish list!
I really think every school age boy needs at least 1 heavy hoodie like this one in his wardrobe. In our house – since I try to only do wash twice a week – I make sure to have 4 or 5 in each size. All fall and all spring the boys wear hoodies instead of jackets outside…since they are running around and sweating in them, they really need one for each day in between my wash days!
For us, fall is full of soccer…
…and riding the days away.
We are thankful for all of these experiences and affordances we have, and I was excited to see that the boys also recognize how lucky they are to be able to freely experience the magic of Fall.
The boys and I made a thankful chain by writing down all of the things we are thankful for on this free Thanksgiving printable I made for you all! The boys wrote about family members, food, and experiences – with only one mention of a material item on the whole chain. I am thrilled my boys have found what is truly important in life.
Click on this printable, download it, and print it out. Consider putting this sheet at kids’ table settings for them to work on this holiday!
Have kids write one thing they are thankful for in each box.
Cut out each colored strip and secure the ends with tape, linking them to the other strips like a chain. Now you can display what your family is thankful for this year!
