FIRE TRUCK BIRTHDAY PARTY

FIRE TRUCK BIRTHDAY PARTY
Reading time: 3 Minutes

I apologize that I have been missing this past week, but a fire truck party for my three-year-old, Buddy, overtook each spare moment of my life. We decided to host a gender-neutral fire truck party for Buddy and 23 of his friends because we are loving parents completely insane. The original plan was to have the fire truck party over at the local fire station – but as luck would have it, their rec room was closed for renovations. On the up side, our very friendly neighborhood fire station offered to load the truck with a crew and bring them right to the house.

After calling the neighbors and warning them that my house would not be on fire no matter what it looked like was happening outside my house at 12:30 PM on Saturday (regardless of my previous record), we crossed our fingers for a great experience.

Honestly, the adults may have enjoyed it even more than the kids. Seriously. The fire truck pulled up with four of the friendliest crew members I could imagine. First, they dressed up in their gear (complete with Darth Vaderesque air mask) had each kid slap them five. They talked about how if they see someone dressed like this that they should not be scared because they were there to help. Next, they let the kids try on the gear and loaded them in the backseat of the engine. After that, they loaded the birthday boy (and some of the other kids) into the driver’s seat to give the wheel a spin. Finally, the truck pulled away, driving past the house with the sirens, horn, and lights going – it was totally better than the finale of the Fourth of July fireworks. Over the next few days I’ll share with you some of the details from Buddy’s 3rd birthday fire truck party – but until then, this sneak peek will have to suffice:
