This upcoming weekend, I am looking forward to a Halloween party with our local preschool club. I offered to create a few centers activities to entertain the kiddos, so I thought I would share those here this week. Sometimes it is hard to come up with age-appropriate activities for our youngest learners.
I wanted to incorporate writing into one of the centers, so I created this worksheet where the kids could stamp stories using some Halloween stamps I found in the $1 bin at Michael’s last month. After the kids stamped their stories, I would have an adult write down their dictated sentence. The kids could then color in their own picture if they liked.
Here’s a sample:
The hope is that with the dictated sentence, these kids would begin to understand that print represents the words that describe illustrations – an important concept of print that should develop in those preschool years.
