Please tell me I am not the only one who gets tired just watching my children run around like little, crazy tornados. They have so much energy – from the time they wake up at 6 AM until the moment they fall asleep. Last week I shared with you ideas for sporty kids – but not all active kids are sporty. My middle is a perfect example of this. He loves art class and dancing and climbing, but he does not seek out traditional sports because he hates competition. To keep kids like him engaged, it is important to find toys that keep kids busy – allowing them to release energy in a way that suits their personalities.
Make sure you read to the end of the post – I have a great giveaway for you!
Table Tennis Court
My boys have been obsessed with table tennis since playing at camp this summer. In the lodge, kids could play (or in some cases, watch on as the big kids commandeered the court). I have a rule in my house – toys have to be storable and contained. At this stage as a parent, I cannot commit to walking around a table tennis court. However, when Alex Brands contacted me about sharing with you Ideal’s new table tennis game, I knew we had to try it out.
We love this set. The court can be set up and torn down super easily, and slides into the box with no struggle. The court size and the paddles were the perfect size for my almost 7 and 4 year old. This court is a decent size, but is contained enough that kids actually have a chance of being successful when playing. I find on a full size table, the ball will bounce a half dozen times on each side of the net before it gets to the boys.
Indoor Bounce House
For years, we had a bounce house set up in the basement to give the kids an opportunity to bounce out some energy on cold winter days!
Jungle Jumparoo
How much fun does this jumparoo look? It has poles and a spinning handle – AND also acts like a summer water toy if you hook up water. Seems perfect for a kid that loves gymnastics or jumping!
PlasmaCar
We have owned a PlasmaCar for 4 years. I have recommended it in guides past, and I will continue to recommend it because we now have 3 PlasmaCars (thanks to the new one sent to review from PlaSmart) that all get used on a daily basis. When the kids are outside playing, all three are on their PlasmaCars racing around the driveway. At first I thought it was a bit gluttonous to have 3 of the same toy, but it was necessary. Otherwise all they do is fight over them!
These cars work by twisting the wheel back and forth, using gravity, kid power, and centrifugal force to power the car on a smooth ride. This little car can pick up speed, too, if the rider chooses to go fast. I think this is why this toy has grown with my kids over the years – as they get older, the PlasmaCar gets more power.
Want a PlasmaCar of your own? I have one to give away to one lucky reader! Just enter using the Rafflecopter below for your chance to win. This giveaway ends 11/20/15 at 12:00 AM EST and is only open to residents of the 48 contiguous US States.
