Our Family Ornament Tradition {And a Giveaway!}

Reading time: 1 Minute

Disclosure: Hallmark provided items for review to facilitate this post. All opinions expressed within are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

We have something in our family called the “family tree” and it might just be my favorite Christmas tradition. Years ago, my mom began collecting special ornaments each year to represent our family members. On Christmas, each person’s newest ornament would hang from his or her stocking, awaiting to be ceremoniously hung on the tree. These ornaments typically came from one of three places:

The Hallmark Store
A handmade source
Somewhere we visited together
Keepsake Ornaments for the Whole Family

This year, I already have my Hallmark ornaments for the family picked out. My oldest will get an Imperial Stormtrooper Helmet, complete with sound to mark his total Star Wars obsession.

Likewise, my middle will get Superman, because his is a super kid. My toddler will get Batman, because he is a little moody, but totally lovable. I am gifting myself Wonder Woman this year, because working full time and parenting sometimes seems to require superhero-esque flexibility. However, the husband’s ornament is up in the air this year – maybe a Rick Grimes Walking Dead ornament to mark his youngest son’s love of “zon-gies” or maybe a handmade ornament to commemorate his new unicycle, favorite sports teams, or his recent knee surgery.

What types of traditions do you have for choosing ornaments? How would you like to add the 5 ornaments featured in this post to your tree this year?

Hallmark has generously offered to give away a set of these 5 ornaments to one lucky Daze and Knights reader 18+ from the 48 contiguous US states. Giveaway ends October 31. Please see the Rafflecopter below for full terms and conditions.
