I am a sucker for holiday photo cards. I love sending them, I love receiving them. However, I do not like paying the big bucks for them. So, I created a tutorial to show you how to create your own free holiday cards, which you can then print at places like Snapfish and Shutterfly, for as low as a penny a piece!
So if you have not found PicMonkey yet, you are missing out. It is a free service that allows you to edit photos. If you want, you can upgrade to the Royale package, but its not necessary. (That being said, I have the Royale package and find that I rarely need to use Photoshop anymore as a result).
1. Open Up a Blank Design Canvas
Choose Design at the top of the home page, and choose your desired canvas size (I suggest 4×6 or 5×7).
2. Add Photos
Click on the butterfly icon on the left side. Click “Your Own” under Overlays. Add your photo(s) that you want to include on the photo card.
3. Add Festive Details
Click on the Holiday icon at the bottom of the left sidebar. You can add frames, clip art, etc. and almost all of it is customizable for colors, etc!
I added a candy cane frame to my card.
4. Add Your Text
There are a ton of fonts you can choose from to decorate your card. Add your text to personalize!
5. Print and Send Your Cards
Save your design and then upload to your favorite photo printing site. I wait for a stellar deal (like penny prints) and then print!
I never thought to use picmonkey . Great tip!

I actually JUST did this for my son’s birthday party invites! I found a free printable, I uploaded it in PicMonkey and voila! $2 later I had some pretty awesome Minecraft Invites! I will have to remember to do this after we take some holiday pics!
I have wanted to send Christmas cards since we got married, but have never gotten around to it! Now, with a baby, I am definitely starting the tradition of family photo cards. Thanks for a tutorial! I haven’t use picmonkey in a long time!
