Next week my favorite superhero is turning 5 and he decided he wanted a superhero-themed party. When browsing the Internet, everything seemed to look the same. Mask – check. Cape – check. Photo set with big buildings – check.
I wanted to do something a little different.
That’s where the “Make Your Own Superhero” idea came to fruition. We’ll be taking a series of steps to create and deck out our superheroes in the appropriate gear:
1. We’ll stuff our unstuffed animal with Poly-Fil.
2. We’ll use fabric markers to decorate a stuffed animal sized t-shirt. The names of party attendees have been heat pressed onto the shirts (blue for boys, glitter blue for girls). I added a cardboard insert to each shirt so that it is easy for the kids to color on them.
3. We’ll add a superhero cape (which kids are free to decorate if they wish) emblazoned with a logo made from shapes in the Silhouette store.
4. We’ll create arm bands so that the superheroes can show off their superpowers.
I’ve been stuffing bags for attendees, so that all of their individualized supplies are ready to go when they sit down with us to design their superheroes. I’ll share more about how we led the kids through the activities post party, but I was so excited about the party plans that I had to share something!
