For the longest time, yellow Post-It notes were my go-to office supply for jotting notes to my students and colleagues. My choice was not because these “traditional” Post-Its were particularly attractive or convenient. To be honest, I found I often had too much to say and too little Post-It note to write.

Lately, I have chosen to write on white, lined index cards because I find them perfectly-sized for my notes.  However, their utilitarian design make me feel a little too “Grandpa”-ish.  Instead, I wanted something that showed my youthful exuberance toward my job at the university:

Because what’s more sunny, youthful, and stylish this year than a mason jar?

These cards took just moments and pennies to make:

1. I bought colorful index cards and used my favorite Inkadinkado Mason Jar Wood Stamp to stamp on the image.

2. Using bakers’ twine, I tied a little bow and glued it to the top of the card with tacky glue.

3. I jotted down a message inside the jar and gave it to the intended recipient!
