In the time between sending party invites and the actual party day, I constantly fret – what if no one wants to come? Even though my middle school days are long gone, the “do I fit in?” anxiety remains. My shyness results in me being socially awkward at times, which I worry can be misinterpreted.
The purpose of the thank you notes we send after any party is two-fold. Of course we are thankful for the generous gifts our guests brought our boys, but really we are most thankful that they could – and were willing to – join us in celebrating.
The parents of our children’s friends are so kind, friendly, and interesting, that we really are thankful that they were willing to take time out of a precious Saturday to bring their children to our party. When I saw these adorable valentines created by Mer Mag, I knew I wanted to refashion them for a pirate-themed thank you note.
I doodled one-eyed pirate boys and girls onto paper, ran them through my home copier/printer onto cardstock, cut them and then added patches. For the patches, I first glued a tiny felt heart where the “missing” eye would be and then I sewed a line across to give the illusion of the band that would hold the patch in place. I think they turned out super cute, what do you think?
