You might have remembered a few months ago I was busy making a pro and cons list for staying in our house and undergoing renovations or just moving to a place that already had the updates. After walking through several houses, it was a no brainer – we were here to stay.
Now we are neck deep in renovations and I am happy to say that besides sleeping four to a bed while our upstairs is being torn apart, the renovations are going smoothly. Since we are renovating two bathrooms, we are working in stages. We bumped into the boys’ bedroom, built walls for the boys’ new bath and are now ready to start adding the details.
Today is particularly exciting because TODAY IS TILE DAY!
We chose Florida Tile’s Natura in Cape Cod Charcoal for the floor and Keraben 12″ by 24″ tiles (in a white with gray grain) for the shower/bath walls. We already added heated floors (the simple luxuries in life).
I figured since I am raising three boys who will eventually be men, I should probably design a bath that will be appealing and comfortable to them in the future. Therefore, I decided to go with a gray/black/white room that will grow with them as their needs change.
I know you are dying for the details, so here’s what’s going in:
vanity – Home Decorator’s Collection
vanity lights – two Restoration Hardware Aged Steel Lights (These lights totally capture my love for all things industrial)
bathtub – Bootz Maui Tub
mirror – custom made (My contractor is going to get us a big sheet mirror and frame it out for us like this Pottery Barn beauty)
faucets – two Kohler Mistos
shower and tub fixtures – Kohler Alteo
shower curtain – Restoration Hardware Vintage-Washed Belgian Linen (I bought this in the extra long length – 84″ – so I can hang my shower curtain higher and give the illusion of higher ceilings.)
Now it is almost time to pick out all the accessories. I have a huge credit of rewards points to Pottery Barn, so I think I will be shopping there. I am also obsessed with the idea of adding a rhinoceros head over the toilet. Obsessed.
