Taking family photos during the holiday season (or any season!) can be a nightmare. Raise of hands – have you thought about hiring a professional photographer just so you can get acceptable photos to send to family on your holiday card?

When Best Buy asked me to share my passion for photography, I jumped on the chance. You see, a couple years ago I received a Canon DSLR a few years as a Christmas present and immediately started capturing my family in action – as they are my most important subject. I was worried at first about getting a DSLR, as I have no photography experience and I get overwhelmed with buttons easily.

However, I was really impressed with how my Canon DSLR was easy enough for me to use as a beginner, but has grown with me as a have gained more skills in photography.

Note: Goal for this year is to experiment with shooting in manual mode more often.

Also note: It is really unnecessary with this camera, but still a goal of mine.

Taking posed pictures of my three boys together is often an event.

We get dressed in coordinating outfits.

We stage a simple, editable backdrop.

We take about 3000 pictures. (Slight exaggeration, the last photo shoot only had 354 pictures.)

Getting three boys to look at the camera and smile is no easy task, but sometimes the real story (and fun) is in the outtakes. The Canon EOS Rebel T5i can help you capture both your perfect images and your bloopers. Have you seen this camera yet? It is totally on the top of my wish list.
