We live in a fairly big neighborhood that has two features that make it perfect for Halloween.

There are lots of houses for the kids to visit, all very trick-or-treat friendly.
The driveways are really long, so by the time kids get back to the house, they are tired!
Last year we used little trick-or-treat buckets, and filled them up so quickly that we had to dump candy in the bottom of the stroller. This year we are prepared. As a kid I always grabbed a pillowcase and then hit the street in my costume Halloween night with my best friend, T.

Of course the boys needed their own pillowcases, but I – as a crafter – had to dress them up a bit. A bit of fabric, some glow-in-the-dark and orange glitter vinyl, and the boys will have the best treat bags on the block this year.

I chose some shapes from the Silhouette store and cut them on HTV on my Silhouette Cameo. (Don’t have one yet? Add it to your holiday list. It paid for itself quickly now that I don’t have to pay others to create the shirts, art, wall decals, etc. that I want.)

I had picked up a yard and a half of cheap fabric at Joann’s and cranked out quick pillowcases for each of the kids.

Each child got either their design or name in Glow-in-the-Dark HTV vinyl, and the other part in orange glitter vinyl.

Super quick 15 minute project, and look how well the designs glow in the dark! The kids are going to love having a glowing personalized bag on Halloween night!

All of my boys are huge Skylanders fans, and are SuperPumped now that Skylanders SuperChargers has hit the shelves. When Activision sent the boys this Kaos costume for Halloween, true chaos ensued. They have been in the basement reenacting the final scene from Skylanders Trap Team making hand actions to send pulses of sharks at the Skylanders. (C’mon fans, tell me you all do this, too.)

The costume is really well made, with Kaos’ pop up collar and creepy oversized head. There are lots of other Skylanders costumes, too if your child prefers to be a good guy!

As a side note, I had to upload the creepiest picture I took. I had locked myself in the bathroom to try to get a good glow in the dark photo. The pillowcase was sitting on the sink. When I looked at my photos, I found this gem – the glowing ghost floating in front of our bathroom door … NOWHERE NEAR THE PILLOWCASE.
