I am finally sharing the details from my son’s Winter Wonderland themed 1st birthday party! We wanted a party that gave the feeling of winter and woodlands, without screaming Christmas or Frozen. Here are some winter party ideas for creating your own magical winter wonderland event!WW Collage Ideas

My son is named for the foxes that frequent our backyard, so instead of making classic gingerbread cookies, we made fox gingerbreads using a fox cookie cutter, icing made from confectioner’s sugar & milk, candy eyes, and cinnamon candies. Totally cute, right?!?!

We made these owl bags to hold popcorn…

And wrapped the water bottles in labels with woodland animals and matching tracks.

We also created cup cozies with our Silhouette Cameo and stamped wooden spoons and forks with little sayings.

WW Forks and Cups

I saw little gingerbread houses made from cardboard in some Anthropologie displays this holiday season and I decided to make my own with some old boxes and puffy paint.

I also made these snow-covered tree brownies using cone-shaped cake molds, brownie mix, white candy melts, and decorating icing.

The birthday boy ate cake. And then choked on the cake.

WW Family

We printed a personalized calendar for each attendee so that they could draw pictures to celebrate each month and learn about months, weeks, and days while they were at it.

We served yummy food, including the hot chocolate bar.IMG_6166

We added decorations we had around the house…

Including these cute little fox peg dolls we made for each attendee.

We made cupcake toppers with the woodland animals we created and some wood-like paper we found in a local craft store.

These tic tac toe boards were created as take home gifts. Aren’t the woodland animal-themed game pieces?

Using jersey sweatshirt fleece material from Jo Ann fabric – and a 50% off coupon – I made personalized blankets for each attendee.

WW Favors2

I really love creating affordable favors that show how much we care for each attendee and to thank them for being a part of our children’s lives. The favors look substantial, but cost us very little to make. Win-win for everyone! I love hearing from party attendees years later how they are using their favors from our parties.

We wanted to give you a little treat for stopping by! We have attached a free printable so you can make the owl bags featured in this post! Just click on  one of the photos below to download the full-size printable!

My daughter’s birthday is Monday and so far, we have NOTHING planned, but seeing this has given me ideas! Specifically, seeing the raccoon means a “Guardians of the Galaxy” party, ideal for my soon-to-be 12yo. Yay!! I love these winter forest ideas too, maybe combine somehow? Space & forests?
