There is one item topping the boys’ Holiday Wish List this year – Skylanders Imaginators. The boys have been huge fans of the Skylanders franchise from nearly the beginning, but Imaginators with the added ability to create your own characters for play, has been totally intriguing to them. So much so that they have been trying (unsuccessfully) to convince their 3 year old brother to spend his birthday money on the game – note, they have no idea Santa found it on Black Friday and has it wrapped and ready to put under the tree already!

If you have a kid who is into action adventure games, and you are looking for a clean, non-violent game – I’d recommend Skylanders Imaginators.

Skylanders Imaginators

Skylanders Imaginators is the latest game to come from the Skylanders franchise. My boys have been super excited about this version, because as in true Skylanders fashion – Activision has gone above and beyond to make this game something different and new!

In this game, players can create their own Skylanders, and play them as well. As with the prior Skylanders games, figures that players have from prior games are playable in this game – as a parent, this is a HUGE encouragement for me to buy the new versions. We add to the collection, but our old figures are still in play.

Figures

Figures are part of the fun of Skylanders. My boys play with them inside the virtual game, and then play with them as toys with no screen on. Skylanders Imaginators is the first time kids can play as evil villian, Kaos, so he is a must have in my opinion!

Activision sent over Candy-Coated Chopscotch, a Halloween special, and she is a super edition to the boys’ collection. She is an impressive force with axe-wielding, hopscotching power!

Creation Crystals

Creation Crystals are what players use to create new characters in Skylanders Imaginators. These are the key to unlocking the full power of the new game, as creating characters enables players to experience the game in infinite new ways.

Design Your Own Figure

My kids have been playing with the Skylanders Creator app for several months and have enjoyed choosing every detail of their Skylanders from their shoulder armor to their signature background music. When Activision sent them a code to create their own Imaginator that would be 3D printed and playable, the boys went wild. I can tell you, if you have a Skylanders fan that is hard to shop for, this would be a gift that would make a huge impression.

The boys spent an hour in the app working together to design the look, weapons, powers, and aura of their Imaginator.

The set up of the app is really easy, and my 5 and 7 year old boys had no trouble navigating it on their own.

Skylanders Creator

This is the Imaginator we ended up creating – a guy with a lobster tail, mushroom head, toilet plunger ears, and snake hands…I mean how could we lose with our creation, Skillfull Wilson?

Activision has given me one code offer a Daze and Knights reader which will allow them the limited opportunity to create their own Skylanders 3D figure, the most personalized, epic gift for Skylanders super fans! Wouldn’t you love to surprise someone special with this this holiday season?
